stress-fibres

stress-fibres
Bundle of microfilaments and other proteins found in fibroblasts, particularly slow-moving fibroblasts cultured on rigid substrata. Shown to be contractile; have a periodicity reminiscent of the sarcomere. Anchored at one end to a focal adhesion, although sometimes seem to stretch between two focal adhesions.
